University of California – Berkeley swim team member Gabe, is finishing his last year on the team and is excited to start the next step of his life. But he’s determined to go out at his personal best. He wouldn’t mind settling down a little bit either. Gabe lives so much in his head and his daydreams, that he almost misses a good thing when it’s right in front of him. His idol and former teammate Nick, convinces Gabe to give their relationship a try. What ensues is a blossoming romance amidst demanding swim and school schedules and life away from each other.
This story can best be described as a sweet and predictable love story. The main characters are very young and their character development within the story reflected that – they didn’t have any deep conflicts or issues to work through, they just needed a way to figure out how to be together and make it work. The story was a quick read and entertaining, but don’t expect a lot of twists and turns, or even a lot of emotional turmoil. And it’s good to note that there was A LOT of daydreaming that took place throughout the story. In my opinion, it was quite distracting, as I found that the daydreams didn’t relate/or move the story forward, as much as I was expecting.
The sex was not a main part of the story, and was very tame during the few times that it happened. Two hot athletic swimmers with wet bodies all the time, did not make as much magic between the pages as one would expect, but sex was not a huge part of this story. But your imagination could go wild for what could be the next installment of this story?
Out of four…
